About this deal

The Trilogy will include GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, and will feature improved graphics and modern gameplay enhancements while keeping the "classic look and feel" of the original games. That’s too bad. RDR1 is one of my favorite gaming memories. The part where you cross over into Mexico for the first time and that Jose Gonzales song plays while you ride your horse blew my mind the first time I played it. I was fully submersed in that game. I hooked up the old 360 a couple years ago and gave it another exteremly enjoyable play through. Wouldn’t think twice about forking over full price to have it on the switch, even just as a straight port.

Red Dead Redemption's engine is a beast from what I have heard. The original PC port in early 2010s was scrapped due to its inflexibility, so they would have to rebuild the first game from scratch. It can be played on Xbox, even with all the up-conversion, it's still showing its age. Then we get the announcement of those remasters which was not a massive head turner because these were the games I bought the PS2 for so wasn't that interested. But that made me hope that I may get an opportunity to play some of their games again in the future. Sounds like I’ll need to continue watching it and see how it (continues to) shapes up. I don’t want any compromises for that price tag especially on a PS2 port. 😩 doctorhino Idk what you ment to say but all these games run on Unreal Engine 4 not on the botched anniversary editions they released on mobile devices. Formerly of Official Nintendo Magazine, GameSpot, and Xbox UK, you can now find Kate's writing all over the internet. She moved to Canada a few years ago, but gets tea imported from England, because she has good priorities. The Switch version likely has lower res textures than the high-end version and as the games are not seperated, share engine data but I cannot say for certain. I think this makes sense on a Switch simply as a portable GTA trilogy, and the games look better on a handheld anyways. When I played this on my Xbox I was amazed by how bad the performance was, totally not worth messing around with. I am not optimistic R* is going to shell out money for 32 GB cards, and I'm even less optimistic Nintendo would want to forge a deal with these guys to get these games all on one card. But I would LOVE to be wrong about all this!

Thank you very much for reassessing this trilogy. I've been wondering lately if it was playable after all the patches. Will probably hold off still, as I only feel any nostalgia for Vice City. I wish I could buy it for 1/3 of the price tag, at discount I have both on the Xbox so not super broken up about it but it is unfortunate. Would totally buy both if they were decent. They're definitely in a playable state now and I can recommend to anyone interested. Albeit with the understanding they should have been even better.A crazy fantasy is finally coming true: we're getting Grand Theft Auto on the Nintendo Switch. It's been over ten years since we last had a GTA on Nintendo consoles, which was Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the DS, and since then the car-stealing, pedestrian-punching simulator has largely been confined to PlayStations and Xboxes.
