About this deal

If you enjoy older stories with a little suspense, this will be a good challenge for you. It talks about the event that made a hermit decide to live alone for decades, with a mysterious window boarded up in his cabin. It also uses a lot of psychology and symbolism, so you may want to read the story more than once to understand everything it has to say. 28. “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs

When Jonas and the rest of his group become the “Twelves” in December, they get special jobs. Because Jonas is smart and respected, he is given an extra special job. His new job is to become the Receiver of Memories. Also, keep in mind that some of these books are old. If you have trouble understanding the language of the book, try something different! You could start with modern fiction books, which are often in more relatable language. In this list, you’ll discover 20 classic English books that are perfect for intermediate learners, now available in e-book format. Have you ever loved a toy or doll so much, that you treated it as if it were alive? This story shows the power of love from a very unexpected viewpoint: that of a fluffy stuffed rabbit. It also highlights the importance of self-value, being true to yourself and finding strength in those who love you. 33. “The Friday Everything Changed” by Anne Hart A trial is set in the courtroom and the judge has to decide Ponyboy’s fate (future). Is he guilty or not guilty? 4. The House On Mango Street – Sandra Cisneros There’s an interesting twist to this story, and the ending will get you thinking (and maybe feeling a bit disturbed!). Fern grows sad when Wilbur grows up and has to be sent away to a farm owned by her uncle. She has a strong relationship with Wilbur. When Wilbur goes to the farm, all the other farm animals ignore him and he’s left crying for his human friend. One day he hears a voice, but he can’t see anything. This voice promises to become friends with him.

No matter where you live in the world, no matter what year you were born, you’ll be able to read and understand the main ideas these books talk about. A classic book will explore things every human knows and cares about, like love, hate, life and death. These are things all humans have experienced for hundreds and thousands of years. Why Classic Books Are Perfect for English Learners Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” is a classic tale about a Mongoose who regularly visits a family in India. The family feeds him and lets him explore their house, but they worry that he might bite their son, Teddy.

Reading can open your mind to brilliant new worlds and take you to a new level of English language learning.

Jane Austen is perhaps best known for her novel “Pride and Prejudice,” which is about life and love for rich, upper-class people in the early 1800s. But before he became a famous children’s book author Milne wrote a few adult fiction books. “The Red House Mystery” is one of these. The Count of Monte Cristo” is about betrayal, love and letting go. 13. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain Que fue esa relación que intentaron vendernos entre Apolo y Claudia? There are a few challenging words and a little bit of descriptive language, but you can usually understand them with the context. This book also has some difficult topics, such as sexual assault, so make sure you’re up for that.
