About this deal

Much like mindfulness, the key is to be present in the moment and to not get caught up in your thoughts. At the same time, it's unmistakably about looking forward and savoring special moments when they arrive. Small moments and gestures of kindness can have a dramatic impact on how you feel about the other areas of your life, especially when you're struggling to find motivation. ichariba chode - adica sa-i tratam pe toti ca si cum ar fi fratii nostri, chiar daca ii intalnim pentru prima data.

One of the unintended—yet positive—consequences of the [pandemic] is that it is forcing people to reevaluate their jobs, careers, and lives. Use this time wisely, find your personal ikigai, and live your best life.”― Forbes Héctor Garcia (second from right) and Francesco Miralles (far left), authors of Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life, say that they realized how important and powerful ikigai was while interacting with the senior citizens ofOgimiVillage, Okinawa Prefecture. One of the unintended—yet positive—consequences of the [pandemic] is that it is forcing people to reevaluate their jobs, careers, and lives. Use this time wisely, find your personal ikigai, and live your best life.” ― ForbesWhile many Japanese live a simple, healthy life, with good food and plenty of time outdoors, the authors suggest ikigai has a profound effect on their lives. The book’s goal is to capture and share the ideas behind ikigai and teach how adopting its principles can lead to a “long and joyful journey through life.” According to the Japanese, everyone has an ikigai—a reason for living. And according to the residents of the Japanese village with the world’s longest-living people, finding it is the key to a happier and longer life. Having a strong sense of ikigai—where what you love, what you’re good at, what you can get paid for, and what the world needs all overlap—means that each day is infused with meaning. It’s the reason we get up in the morning. It’s also the reason many Japanese never really retire (in fact there’s no word in Japanese that means retire in the sense it does in English): They remain active and work at what they enjoy, because they’ve found a real purpose in life—the happiness of always being busy.

I absolutely loved that the thoughts and ideas written in the book are pragmatic. Goals are achievable and practical living in a busy world. The writing not being very idealistic can be applied in our daily lives. The reader also gets a peek at the Japanese culture and lifestyle through this book. Ikigai urges individuals to simplify their lives by pursuing what sparks joy for them' - Marie 'KonMari' Kondo The very center, where each area overlaps, is your ikigai – your reason for getting up in the morning and where you should focus your efforts to find ultimate fulfilment. Whether you're a janitor, journalist or Jeff Bezos, if you find your ikigai, you'll find pleasure and value in what you do. The five pillars of ikigai And when I say the veneer of Japanese culture is thin, I mean it is THIN. The author took a trip to Okinawa at some point and has some quotes from old folks there. He makes references to big cultural figures like Miyazaki and Murakami, does some hand-waving at tai-chi and green tea and calls it a day. While usually reserved for the individual, ikigai when applied to business has the potential to motivate an entire workforce and drive genuine change inside and outside the walls of the organization. Its effect is to invigorate and encourage a state of flow in all that we do, providing vitality and passion.Without exception, the advice is excellent. After all, our passions and talents are unique to each of us. If we know them, they should be shared and experienced here and now; if we don’t, our mission should be their discovery. The people in Japan believe that everyone has an ikigai - a reason to jump out of bed each morning. Do you get satisfaction from solving complex issues or giving presentations and chairing interviews? For this book, Garcia interviewed more than 100 elderly residents of Ogimi Village, Okinawa Prefecture, renowned for being a “village of longevity.” One thing that these healthy and active seniors have in common is that each has an ikigai, or something worth living for. “When we asked what their ikigai was, they gave us explicit answers, such as their friends, gardening, and art. Everyone knows what the source of their zest for life is, and is busily engaged in it every day,” says Garcia. Another distinguishing feature of this community is that the elders have strong social links with their peers and frequently get together to enjoy karaoke, birthday parties, and more. “Avoiding social isolation is linked to the motivation and confidence to lead active lives.” When we are in a state of flow, we focus on our work and not on distractions. The intensity of focus leads to Deep Work which increases our productivity and at the same time gives satisfaction. Once we find flow in our work, the work will be fun.

Motivation is a top priority for organizations looking to maintain an engaged and eager workforce. And in a time of immense global uncertainty, it pays to pause and reflect on your life and what's important to you. There's never been a better time to consider your personal ikigai. What is ikigai?

How to discover your ikigai

Fii recunoscator. Cultivarea prieteniilor, alimentatia moderata, odihna adecvata si miscarea usoara par sa faca parte din ecuatia sanatatii, insa in centru este acea joie de vivre, bucuria de a trai, care ii ajuta sa insumeze ani si sa sarbatoreasca in continuare fiecare rasarit de soare, ikigai-ul personal al fiecaruia.“ - HECTOR GARCIA (KIRAI) si FRANCESC MIRALLES The problem is, I have to think that the author and his publisher know that this book doesn't come anywhere close to achieving that goal.

The most eye catching autumn lifestyle trend is the Japanese concept of Ikigai, which translates as "reason to live"… An attractive and absorbing book. A Venn diagram of 'the four elements' of ikigai has blazed a trail through office cubicles, boardrooms, and HR presentations in recent years. This selfless, giving aspect of ikigai traditionally manifests as giving yourself over to something other than yourself. This isn't perhaps as difficult as it first appears. Before reading the book, I expected that this book is all about ikigai and finding purpose and will help me find my own. But when I read it, I found that it doesn’t contain much information about finding ikigai, which disappointed me. The book includes advice about exercises and eating vegetables, which are somewhat familiar and can be found in any blog. These were the few things that I didn’t like in the book. The book made me feel the importance of slowing down, being in the moment, and showing gratitude for every small thing I have in this life. This book helped me to live with peace, make friends, and enjoy each and every moment. I don’t know; the book is a kind of magic, which made me realize that there is nothing to worry about but only to be happy. I was happy after reading it.
