Haig Dimple Pinch is the US version of Haig Dimple, also named after the unique shape of the bottle. Jack Daniels and Gentleman Jack are very different in terms of taste as they are Tennessee whisky with an entirely different mash bill. Me, being a total scotch nut, must investigate this passion of so many, and see if I too, can join their ranks.

Overall: This starts very strong, flush with classic sherry aromas and dense candy-like caramels but then appears confused on the tongue and downright absent on the finish. Staying true to its 200 years of distilling tradition to sit at the very forefront of technical expertise and skill, the distillery takes a 21st Century approach to distilling. First released in the early 1890's this modern and peaty whisky is just as famous for its triangular, dimpled bottle.

I have to wonder if the UK name “Haig Dimple” – a reference to the “dimple” in the center of the eccentric round bottle – was renamed to “Haig Dimple Pinch” when it was released in the US because marketers assumed that Americans didn’t know what a “dimple” was? Pinch has now become well known again through the Breaking Bad TV series where it features as the favourite drink of Walt White. I am unsure if this is accurate, as it seems every blended scotch producer makes similar claims that their spirit is in the top 5 somewhere.

With Water: A few drops of water reawaken that nose tickle, necessitating another rest in the glass.
