In book 1 I didn't really like her as I found her to be a Mary Sue, but I am 100% sold on her character now.

They were supposed to be parabatai, but Lucie continually puts Jesse ahead of her family and friends. And now Cordelia is going to Paris with Matthew thinking Jamie loves Grace and JAMES WAS SO CLOSE TO REACHING THEM TO EXPLAIN BEFORE THE TRAIN LEFT BUT OHMYGOD I can't believe I'm saying this but STUPID WILL HERONDALE RUINED THAT BY STOPPING JAMIE. I really liked him I CoG and wanted to know more about him, but I'm not sure how much I actually like him. he had always been drawn to that dichotomy, he thought, of the cruelty of alastair’s words, and the sadness with which he said them. She is the bearer of the sword Cortana, that burns her when she touches it, and must find a murderer who's killing Shadowhunters.There were some good moments every now and then (which is the reason why I kept reading) but looking back at it now, I’m just disappointed.

In this sequel to Chain Of Gold, Cassandra Clare serves her regular books filled with to die for characters, swoon-worthy romances and an intense plot. Thomas Lightwood and Alastair Carstairs have undeniable romantic tension, but neither of them are willing to admit it. James and Cordelia must try their best to convince everyone of their marriage, while the Merry Thieves help in finding out who is the killer of the Shadowhunters. but why i don’t believe in their love is bc of this - ariadne was the one who pulled back from their relationship before, when she got engaged to charles. It’s the kind of the friendship that everyone desires to have and experience at least once in their lifetime.These books continue to be a fun time for me, especially as I've started to view them as fantasy romances instead of just fantasy books. I think a few sentences of explanation could have been easily mentioned in the book, specially considering we have a character who was Indian. rounding up to 4 stars - because apparently I'm too attached to the charaters and can't seem to bring myself rating the book lower than 4 stars.

Overall: after slow burn, bumpy road we took at the beginning, the book’s direction changes and the fast pacing, surprising, magical elements start erupting from the chapters, capturing your attention till the end! You are right, of course; it is only perhaps that we worry that you are too honest—too good, and goodness can be a blade sharp enough to cut, you know, just as much as evil intent. I am mildly curious about how this story will be resolved and what will happen to some of my beloved characters, but I don’t think I’m curious enough to read another seemingly never-ending book that will probably be over 600 pages long… But never say never, right?

There’s no official date set for the next book, Chain of Thorns, but I would willingly battle 5 mandikhor demons to get my hands on a copy now! the little moments of friendship, heartwarming (and heartbreaking) romance, the “it’s complicated” status of so many couples so far, that was what had me so invested. I felt her relationship with Jessie was very insta-lovey, so I wasn't really able to root for Lucie in this book. He struggles with feeling like he’s not wanted, or that he’s isolated because of his alcohol addiction. As much as I loved this one I prefer Chain of Gold over it, mostly because of the miscommunication that happened in Chain of Iron.
